Advanced Adult Sew: Button-Up Blouse (Wednesdays July 2-30)
Advanced Adult Sew: Button-Up Blouse (Wednesdays July 2-30)
Wednesdays July 2-30 6:00 - 7:45PM
This class is a 5-week series.
Ages: Adult
Some materials included. We’ll be making the Love Notions pattern Aria Button Down.
As before, we highly recommend using this opportunity to pick out your own fabric! Or if you prefer to use our fabric, you can let us know in advance, and we can send an invoice for the extra cost of using our fabric, or you can pay in person at the studio. If you’d like to shop in person, we recommend checking out Fabrics R Us and Fabrics Yard off of Berryessa. We also recommend online fabric stores such as Stone Mountain & Daughter, Harts Fabric, or Mood Fabrics. You will also need 5 buttons; we have a limited supply in studio and so recommend finding your own buttons, as well.
Suggested fabrics: 2 - 2 3/4 yards of light to medium weight woven fabrics such as chambray, shirting, quilters cotton, poplin and lawn.
Please refer to the sizing and faric chart to purchase the correct yardage of fabric, and prewash your fabric before class.
Prerequisite: Intro to Machine Sewing and/or Adult Sew, and Adult Sew 2 (or equivalent experience)
Level: Advanced
CLASS DETAILS
Is there anything more classic than a button down? You will look and feel so accomplished with this woven shirt project.
This class covers an advanced pattern design with many new skills, including back pleats and sewing a yoke using the “burrito” method.
Tired of shirts that don’t fit well? The full bust option will help tailor the fit for those that need it.
Choose between short or long sleeves, and learn how to install a placket with button holes and buttons into the long sleeve cuffs.
Learn how to sew a collar and undercollar, add pockets, and use interfacing to make your garments more crisp.
Have a sewing machine collecting dust in the closet? Bring it in and we’ll get you up to speed so you can finally put it to use at home.
You’ve had an incredible sewing journey so far, and let’s keep that momentum going!
